Upgrade to DotNetNuke 5.2.0 and beyond

So on the never ending upgrade treadmill, I upgraded to DNN 5.2.0 a couple of weeks ago. This now moves us away from .Net v2 and SQL 2000, and probably leaves behind the other site I vaguely support (www.sirthomasblackwells.co.uk) since they are on SQL2K. The upgrade to 5.2.0 brought some problems, since web.config wasn’t correctly update to reflect the new caching providers. A bit of research though, a couple of changes, and all was running again fine.

I noticed that 5.2.1 was release last week, and prompted by PowerDNN  I have just done the upgrade. No problems so far!!

I’ve also done updates to my Newsletter mailer, to give greater visibility of previous emails to people who can create emails. Also allowing it to ignore sending an email to a defined address, since I use a standard spam address on DNN for members who don’t have an email address. I’m considering adding extra functionality sending an email of how many emails sent, etc. Shouldn’t take too long to do that.
