Dive Update

The club ran an excellent weekend in Anglesey in August (thanks Roger). Definitely one to be repeated. A short video here .

Don’t miss the last club dive of the year on the 15/16th October.

Weymouth AOW+

£43/day with ‘Divetime’. Book now! Contact Bev on clubdive@thedivingclub.co.uk .

Divetime is a spacious boat with sun deck (!) and internal shelter for kitting up in. Price includes lunch and a very respectable ropes off time of 12pm on both days, therefore do-able there and back in a day if suits. October is an excellent time of year to dive as the water is warm and the weather is normally good!

The dives…

  • Sat: Ethel - Max depth 37 metres
Discovered in the late eighties this wreck lies outside the Shambles Bank, she is well collapsed amidships but stands at the bow and the stern. The wreck is often covered in mussels, which attracts much life and makes a scenic dive. One of Weymouth's less well known but stunning dives (Editors note: I’ve done this, very nice dive and usually great viz). Followed by either a drift or another wreck - James Fennel or Adelaide.
  • Sun: Frognor - 30 to 36 metres
1476 ton Norwegian steamship sunk after being torpedoed in 1918. She is one of several wrecks worked by local divers over the years but much still remains, most divers love this wreck and often want to return.

Dover Cancellation: Unfortunately the Dover dives planned for 24 September have had to be cancelled due to the boat, Neptune not being available for diving for the next few months. The skipper apologises.

The 2012 diving schedule is being compiled with headline trips to Lundy and Scotland. For some great diving opportunities see the dive calendar .

If you can help organise a dive weekend, why not contact the club dive organiser? They can give lots of guidance and will really appreciate the support!
