This competition was held at the Maiden Over last Wednesday. There were an excellent number of entries with submission from new competitors as well as some folks form previous years, with a great mix of subjects.

Nigel Wade, a regular submitter to Diver magazine came along to make the final selection for the overall winner. After seeing all the photos, he commented that the standard was excellent, so let’s keep that up and increase the quality and have even more entries for next year!

One of the interesting things about the evening was that Nigel offered to critique the winning photos as they were revealed, which gave everyone the chance to learn a few tips and tricks from a professional. I certainly learnt from his talk a earlier last year, and will be looking to put some of these new ideas into practice over the coming year.

New Class for 2012

This year you will notice that the winners in each class have all won one or more classes in previous years. To counter this, end to encourage everyone to give it a go, we have decided to create a new class for next year. This will be the ‘Newcomers’ class for people who have not won one of the underwater classes (i.e. excluding the Humour class) from previous years. So Get snapping for next year!
